Tigo Ghana has given away another GHC20,000 as a monthly grand prize in the “Tigo Super Play” promotion, which rewards customers in a text and win game dubbed “Tigo Super Play”.
A journalist won the first monthly grand prize of GHC20,000 on August 7, 2012, and the second one was won by one of Tigo’s prepaid customers called Isaac Osei Bonsu.
Isaac told Adom News he spent an estimated GHC3,000 playing the Tigo Super Play before he won the ultimate for the month. He also won one of the daily prizes of GHC1,000.
Isaac holds a Master of Philosophy in Botany from the University of Ghana Legon, and he told Adom News he will use the GHC20,000 to pay for studies towards his Doctorate Degree in Botany, after sorting out his parents and siblings.
“It is just a matter of rationing – so I will make everybody happy and have enough for my studies as well,” he said amidst laughter.
Several other customers also won prizes including Blackberry Curve, GHC1,000 and GHC500 as first, second and third daily prizes.
Customers are required to text the word “Tigo” to short code 2020 and answer very easy questions and gain points, which are accumulated based on how many times one texts and how many questions one answers correctly.
The promotion started in June and would end on September 30, 2012, where one participant stands the chance of winning the grand prize of GHC100,000 in the final draw.
Media and Advertising Manager at Tigo, Linda Afua Asantewaa said the prizes are based on who accumulates the highest number of points in a day, month and at the end of the promotion.
“The ultimate prize of GHC100,000 will be won by the participant who accumulates the highest number of points from the beginning to the end of the promotion,” she said.
She said so far, Tigo has given away over GHC100,000 and 50 Blackberry handsets, in daily and week prizes, adding that the promotion is an innovation intended to educate and reward customers at the same time.
Some 10 people also won the Tigo Surprise Package of GHC20 credit free at the presentation event.
