The House of Makeda, a high end, classic and unique fashion home, will soon launch in Accra to join the tall list of designers flooding the Ghanaian market.
The Nigerian brand which is created by musician and fashion designer Teni is a unique, aspirational African lifestyle brand that creates one-of-a-kind style with simplicity.
According to the singer/designer who spoke in an exclusive interview with Myjoyonline.com, her love of both music and fashion inspired her to create a fashion house that is edgy, fashion-forward and unique, socially conscious and eclectic.
Her designs are inspired by those of the 1960s and 70s.
Teni is targeting “cosmopolitan, sophisticated, upwardly mobile women and men” in the country and other African cities “who like ethnic inspired styles…”
She was however quick to add that she has designs equally good and for the not so sophisticated women and men who also love fashion.
“I have two lines – the House of Makeda which is our more high-end luxury line and Makeda which is just a line where we make very very accessible designs like Ankara mixed T-shirts, our leather accessories are also quite accessible so that’s why I say there’s something for everyone…”
As Teni puts it, Ghana is growing very fast economically and attracting diverse cultures, hence her decision to open a branch here.
