A 13-year-old primary six pupil, Laila Nuhu died on the spot after she was struck by lightning last night in an open field in the Upper West regional capital, Wa.
The deceased, a pupil of the Tender Care International Primary School, is reported to have gone to buy food with her senior sister, Fauzia Nuhu when the incident occurred.
The sister of the deceased told Joy News’ Upper West regional correspondent, Rafiq Salam that the girl was in the company of two others when the lightning struck.
The spot of the incident is considered by the locals as part of lightning belt which stretches to Kpaguri where a UDS student was also struck by lightning some years ago.
The parents of the deceased where out of town at the time of the incident which threw the entire township of Dobile into a state of mourning.
