Scores of police personnel in the Eastern region have been deployed at Suhyen, to avert a possible clash at the performance of the traditional rites for the Akwantu-kese festival on Friday.The Regional Security Council, at a meeting yesterday, took a decision to prevent the Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Oti Boateng, and his elders from performing traditional rites at the riverside of Suhyen.The directive follows a vow by the chief of Suhyen to prevent Daasebre Oti Boateng from performing rituals in his town as part of the festival.Deputy Regional Police Commander, ACP James Abass-Abaa tells Joy News every security measure has been put in place to ensure peace and order in the area.He said “We are doing patrols in Koforidua township, Jumapo and Suhyen. We are on the ground.”Meanwhile, Eastern regional correspondent for Adom FM, Maxwell Kudakor reports that a young man carrying locally manufactured guns and other substances suspected to be cannabis was arrested by the police.
