The Omanhene of the New Juaben traditional area in the Eastern region, Daasebre Oti Boateng may be destooled for performing traditional rites at a different location, after he was initially stopped by the Regional Security Council from performing it at the river Suhyen.
The Regional Security Council advised the Omanhene not to enter the Suhyen Township due to fears of a possible outbreak of violence between his supporters and the Chief of Suyhen.
According to some members of the New Juaben Royal House of Chiefs the action could be taken against the chief for breaching the traditional rites of the area.
Their warning comes after the Omanhene performed some traditional rites at the Akwadum River instead of River Suhyen.
Speaking on behalf of the Abusuapanin of New Juaben, Nana Baffour Siriboe Boateng described the situation as embarrassing and warned the Omanhene could lose his stool as a result of his action.
He described the Chiefs conduct as disappointing adding that the location where the Omanhene performed the ritual, could change the status quo of New Juaben.
