The MTN Ghana Foundation has commissioned a multipurpose school complex at Kodjonya Presby School in the Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region.The school complex worth Ghc 229, 982.00 comprises of a six unit classroom block, an office for the head teacher, a store room for keeping books and other materials, an ICT Center, a staff common room and a technical drawing unit.Speaking at the commission of the building, Mrs. Cynthia Lumor, Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana noted that, MTN was touched by the plight of children who were studying under trees and occasionally in a nearby church, with its attendant challenges of disruption of academic work and whether interruption.According to her, the project will help improve academic performance in the area.She was hopeful that, people living in and around Kodjonya, including Atua, Odumase, Agormanya, Menekpo, Compania and Somanya will take advantage of the facility to educate their wards.Mrs. Cynthia Lumor stated that, in the Eastern Region alone the MTN Ghana Foundation had invested over Ghc 1, 140,397.21 including support to the Akropong School for the Blind, investment into Asempanaye Community School project, Atua Government Hospital, Kwahu Governmant Hospital and MTN ICT Center of learning at Kpong.She used to the occasion to officially launched the 5th Anniversary of the MTN Ghana Foundation which commenced in the year 2007 as a single purpose intermediary, to drive all MTN Corporate Social Initiatives.She announced that as part of activities to mark the anniversary celebrations, they will hold forum for key stakeholders from all over the country to deliberate on the theme ‘Celebrating Five Years of Sustainable Corporate Social Interventions in Ghana’ as well as hold series of debates among schools.
