The Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA) has organised a three-month refresher course for 170 tailors and dressmakers in the Ashanti Region.
The course was designed specifically to develop the skills and knowledge of participants who were taught tailoring techniques, book keeping, modern dressmaking, management, and planning among other things.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony in Kumasi on Wednesday, Reverend Jonathan Akwanda National President of the Association disclosed that it was exploring avenues to build resource centres for members in the regional capitals of the country.
The centres, he said would also have competent tutors to teach and develop the capacity of tailors and dressmakers.
He advised members of the Association to adopt the best of practices in their activities for the development of the tailoring industry.
Mr Osei Assibey - Antwi, Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister in a speech read on his behalf, entreated the participants as well as textile manufacturers to add value to their products to enhance their marketability on the world market.
