A 38-year-old man at Agric-Kokode, a suburb in Kumasi, last week shot and killed himself with a single barrel gun after receiving results of a medical test he had undertaken.
Sources told GNA that Gabriel Mohammed had been sick for some time and was receiving treatment at the SDA Hospital in Kumasi.
On October 14, Mohammed was admitted at the SDA Hospital and was asked to undergo some medical test.
The sources said he went for the results on October 17 and then locked himself in his room and shot himself in the chest.
Confirming the incident to the GNA, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) James Annor, District Commander, Sofo Line, Kumasi said the police at about 9am on October 17 received information that a man had shot himself.
ASP Annor said when the police got to scene Mohammed was found lying in a pool of blood.
He said the Police have since retrieved the gun and deposited the body at the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital.
ASP Annor said he did not know what the medical report said.Source: GNA
