Teachers who have absented themselves from schools in the Central Region will soon experience huge deductions in their salaries.
Some schools scored zero percent in the recent release of Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results.
"If that is your own child who attends school for ten years and scores zero, will you be happy?", the charged-up Director asked the teachers.
Joy News' Central Regional correspondent Richard Kojo Nyarko reports the Regional Director was speaking during the presentation of 231 laptops to teachers.
According to the Regional Director of Education, Jacob Kor, District Directors of Education and head teachers in the region have submitted names of teachers who hardly stay in the classroom to be forwarded to the Controller and Accountant General’s department for the deductions to be carried out.
"As rightly pointed out by the Minister of Education, we will have zero tolerance for absenteeism in this region...we cannot sit down and let these innocent young ones fail"
The Regional Director said he was ready to face any "noise" arising from his determined path to contain a growing culture of teacher absenteeism.
