An aide to Nana Akufo-Addo, Abu Jinapo has said a publication by the Informer newspaper that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer has dropped Northerners from his campaign team is one of mischief.
According to him, these are political strategies being instigated by their opponents to bring disunity in the party but added that the NPP is much more focused and united.
The Informer newspaper on January 12, 2011 published a story with the headline Akufo-Addo Drops Northerners from "Cabinet" ... Jinapor, Nitiwul Out!!! John Buadu In!!!.
The paper claims Nana Akufo-Addo flag bearer of the NPP organized a reshuffle in his cabinet ordering Dominic Nitiwul and Samuel Abu Jinapor to cease parading themselves as his Spokespersons replacing them with John Buadu, of Akan stock, as his official mouthpiece.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme in reaction to the Informer story, Abu Abu Jinapor noted that Nana Addo reserves the right to choose anybody to speak on his behalf adding that “there are equally competent people within the NPP who qualify to be spokespersons of Nana Addo but we still work with him very closely”.
He said that the most important thing for the NPP is to win the 2012 elections to deliver a more competent leader to the people of Ghana and not interested in titles.
On suggestions that the NPP does not perform well in the North, Abu Jinapor stressed that the NPP is a formidable force in Northern Ghana.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Asuman co-editor of the Informer news paper explained that sources in the NPP confirmed to him that due to changes Nana Akufo-Addo has made in his communication team, John Buadu is now his spokesperson.
