The Mayor of Accra, Mr Alfred Vanderpuije Tuesday went on a house-to-house tour, inspecting toilet facilities.
The tour started off in the Korle Gonno area and as of midday, the AMA boss, accompanied by actors Majeed Michel and Yvonne Okoro had toured six houses out of which two had no toilet facilities.
Joy News Nana Yaa Fynn-Thompson reports that even the toilet facilities in the other four houses were in very poor states.
In fact none of the houses had water closet.
The AMA, through the tour, is sensitizing residents on the AMA’s plans to implement its by-laws which require every house to have decent toilet facilities.
He said by September this year, every house in the metropolis is expected to have their facilities functioning.
The two Ghanaian movie stars said they were concerned about sanitation in the capital and that the AMA’s efforts coincide with their personal commitment.
Majeed joked that he didn’t want movie lovers to have to – when watching their movies – break and walk long distances to 'free' themselves.
