Two persons are in critical condition after a tipper truck loaded with sand ran into a KIA truck at Achimota Mile 7 on Monday.
The two were trapped in the KIA truck for almost an hour and a half, according to an eyewitness.
The eyewitness told Joy News that the tipper truck driver who was driving at a top speed could not reduce the speed when he realised a huge traffic jam ahead.
"So he tried to veer off from his lane into another and that was when it run into the mini Kia truck, trapping the two," he recounted.
Pedestrians, hawkers, and other drivers could only save one of the victims after over an hour.
The second victim was reportedly saved after the police arrived at the scene. Both sustained injuries and have been rushed to the hospital.
The accident temporarily caused traffic on the road but normalcy returned after the police arrived.
The last reported accident on the road was in 2014.
