The Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo is advocating for the institution of a special procurement policy for women entrepreneurs, the disabled and youth in business.
She believes the move, if implemented, will empower women especially to be self-sufficient and contribute to the growth of the nation.
The deputy ranking member on the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament is among distinguished women in politics attending the 6th Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians Africa conference in Kenya.
The conference is under the theme opportunity and empowerment of women in the post 2015 development agenda through integration of a gender perspective.
The Dome Kwabenya MP used the occasion to enumerate challenges facing women in Ghana's political space.
She is therefore challenging African governments to show commitment to equality and women empowerment by awarding more contracts to women and appointing them to key positions in society.
