Gabon coach Paulo Duarte says Ghana can win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Portuguese coach is with his team on a training tour of the UAE haven failed to qualify for this month’s tournament in South Africa.
The ex Burkina Faso coach watched the Black Stars dismantle Egypt in a 3-0 friendly win and again witnessed the great comeback in the 4-2 win over Tunisia.
Duarte now says, haven watched all two of Ghana’s warm up matches towards the 2013 AFCON that the Black Stars have what it takes to win the tournament in South Africa.
“Why not (when asked about Ghana’s chances)? Ghana every year is a favourite,” he told Angel FM.
“They have a good team, good young players and with quality so why not?”
The Ghana team will arrive in South Africa on Wednesday where they will immediately move to their base in Port Elizabeth.
The Black Stars will play their Group B opener against DR Congo four days later before facing Mali and Niger in the subsequent group games.
The team aims at winning Ghana’s first African title in 31-years in South Africa.
