There will be no Ghanaian referee at the Africa Cup of Nations for the second straight tournament.
CAF has chosen 56 officials (20 centre referees and 36 assistant referees) for this year's tournament in Egypt but none from Ghana same as in 2017, when no Ghanaian was selected.
Daniel Laryea had hope of officiating at the continent's flagship football event when he was named in a 24-man shortlist for the elite referees' seminar in Morocco last month.
But despite his experience in recent CAF inter-clubs competitions, Laryea could not make the grades to be selected for the expanded tournament.
Laryea, a FIFA badge holder, was selected for the CHAN tournament in Morocco in 2017.
He officiated at the 2017 African Youth Championship in Gabon and the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations hosted by Ghana in September.
Video assistant referees (VAR) will be chosen from the pool of officials at the tournament.
VAR is s being used at the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time. The technological piece will be employed from the quarterfinals stage.
The tournament will take place from 21 June to 19 July.
