The Agogo police have started investigations to uncover the mystery behind the murder of a 45¬year-old Fulani herdsman at Lugua, a rural community at Agogo.The deceased, who has been identified as Osmanu Barigor, was found in a pool of blood by a team of police and military men with the head decapitated.The murder, according to the police, occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2012.The body was, however, retrieved the following day.According to the police, there was a deep cut in the stomach, with parts of the intestines gushing out when the body was found.Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr Sarfo Tenkorang, who briefed the Daily Graphic about the incident, said the body had been deposited at the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital for autopsy, while the police intensified their investigations to arrest the suspect.According to Mr Tenkorang, the police suspect that the murder was meant for ritual purposes, and gave an assurance that efforts would be made to arrest and prosecute the suspects.He said around 5:30 p.m. last Saturday, the police had a tip-off that a Fulani herdsman had been shot dead on one of the Agogo stool lands and early the following day, a team of police and military men went to the scene to investigate.He said after travelling in their vehicle for some time, they parked their vehicle and trekked for about 90 minutes before they arrived at the place where the incident occurred, and saw the headless body.Mr Tenkorang said after some Fulani herdsmen who knew the victim had identified the body, they took it to the Agogo Hospital mortuary, where it was deposited for autopsy.
