The Presbyterian Hospital, Agogo has unveiled a newly-furbished computerized tomography (CT) scan facility, together with a wellness clinic in an effort to meet the highest healthcare standards.
This comes years after patients in and around Asante Akyem Agogo requiring advanced diagnostics for their conditions have been compelled to travel to Kumasi and Accra.

With the introduction of the new facility, the Presbyterian Hospital, Agogo, is on the path to becoming a tertiary health service provider.
The 93-year-old facility usually uses typical clinical diagnostics in patients’ treatment, which is not favorable in an era of evidence-based medicine.
Similarly, patients requiring urgent and advanced diagnostic services have to travel long distances from Agogo to the city centers to access CT scan services.
To address this situation, the Presbyterian Hospital, Agogo, has unveiled a new self-funded computerized tomography scan unit.

The CT Scan is a type of imaging that uses X-ray techniques to create detailed images of the body to plan medical, surgical or radiation treatment.
Radiologist at Presbyterian Hospital Agogo, Francis Collins Bimpong, says doctors can now refer to delicate medical conditions requiring scans, which will aid patient monitoring.

“Now people within the catchment areas of Presby Hospital Agogo, like Agogo, Konongo and some parts of Ejisu can access our services. We usually use clinical diagnostics which is not favourable in an era of evidence-based medicine.
“Doctors can reveal delicate health conditions which will make their work easy and save as many people. Now we can averagely take care of five patients,” he said.
Additionally, the hospital opened its first wellness clinic, to provide accessible services, including comprehensive health screenings, lifestyle counselling, and nutritional guidance for patients and staff.

General Manager of the Presbyterian Hospital Agogo, Rev. Ezekiel Amadu Daribi, said the new installations reinforce the hospital’s commitment to providing quality and standardized health care services.
“We called on Fidelity Bank for financial support. They answered our call favorable by giving us GHS52,000.00 to meet the deadline we had set for ourselves. The renovation, viewing window, electrical works, ICT, furniture etc. cost us close to GHS500,000.
“Having a complete diagnostic center in the near future which would include MRI, renal, CT scan, endoscopy, ultrasound amongst others, the attainment of this height would push the agenda of attaining Tertiary status closer than ever. We also call on successful private individuals, to partner us to expand our services, as well as those who are interested in easing our accommodation pressure,” he said.

The clergy and heads of the Presbyterian Health Services joined in the opening of these facilities, including the unveiling of an official Lapel Brooch of the Presbyterian Hospital, Agogo.
This was done on the sideline of the inauguration of the Advisory Board of the Presbyterian Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Agogo.

The eleven member advisory board will aid the development of the college.
Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Dr. Nii Noi Odonkor, who inducted the new advisory board admonished members to be problem solvers. He asked the team to be dedicated to their responsibilities.

“Based on current development and turmoils of the world, the board is charged with guiding the college in developing strategies to foster effective links that solve problems with its external communities and ensure a positive image for the school,” he said.
Representative of Pharm Access, George Afful, assured of continuous support to make the Hospital thrive.
The Chairman of the Advisory Board, Rev David Aboagye Danquah appreciated the church for the task bestowed on them, promising to fulfil their responsibilities diligently.
