Airtel, the Smartphone Network has emerged the Most Influential telecommunications company on social media for 2015 in the latest rankings released by the Ghana Social Media Rankings (GSMR).
The comprehensive annual rankings measures a company or brand’s social media engagement, post reach, mentions and activations across key social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. Airtel Ghana clearly led the telecommunications industry across the various channels.
Airtel Ghana has the largest following in the telecom industry on Facebook with over 571,000 followers. The company also has huge followings on Twitter and Instagram with a vibrant YouTube account.
Speaking on this latest recognition, Rosy Fynn, Airtel’s Marketing Director said, “Ours is a company that deeply believes in engaging with our customers across all touchpoints including on social media. Our relentless commitment to remain close to our customers, to listen, engage and respond to their needs is core to our strategy.
When you have a passion to engage customers as we do, they provide you with the insights to delight and enrich their lives every day and that is our hallmark as the fastest growing telecommunications company in Ghana”.
She continued “we have a dedicated and agile team who engage with our customers around the clock on social media – responding to their queries, resolving challenges with support from back office team members to provide exceptional service to our customers.
This recognition really goes first to our cherished customers who continue to make us the telecom company of choice and to the hardworking Customer Experience team who lead the engagement with our customers on a daily basis”.
Airtel Ghana’s leadership on Social Media is not new, in September 2015, the Telecom Brand of the year was recognised as the most Socially Devoted brand by Socialbakers, a global social media analytics firm for attaining a 89% Total Response Rate on Facebook.
Socialbakers monitor over 8 million social profiles across all the major social media platforms of companies on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, Google+ and VK to set a benchmark for response times and response rates to questions from fans and customers of multiple companies.
“If you consider all the accolades we won in 2015, you will have no doubt that Airtel is indeed the industry leader when it comes to data and digital innovation and social interactions.
For instance we launched Free Facebook in 2015 to enable access to our customers. At the back of that we launched our bundles on Facebook to provide customers with the convenience of purchasing data bundles when they need them”. She concluded.
Airtel Ghana according to the Ghana Social Media Rankings outperformed all the other telecom companies and its own performance in 2014, to become the Most Influential Telecom Company for 2015 and also the most talked about.
Data used for the rankings were gathered and evaluated throughout the year with the final data used for rankings recorded on the 28th of December, 2015. The GSMR score is derived from various followings on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube with data on Engagements, Posts Reach and Mentions.
The Rankings is conducted by Avance Media and CliQAfrica.
Airtel is Ghana’s fastest growing telecommunications company providing unparalleled communication, connectivity and collaborative solutions to its customers.
