President Nana Akufo-Addo has embarked on a trip to attend the Munich Security Conference in Germany on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

The Munich Security Conference (MSC) serves as a key forum for global discussions on security policy, while aiming to uphold the rules-based international order and counter revisionist tendencies.

During MSC 2024, various debates and side events will be held, commemorating the conference's 60th anniversary.

Following his participation in the MSC, President Akufo-Addo will proceed to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to attend the 37th AU Summit from February 17 to 18, 2024. The summit's theme is "Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa."

During his stay in Addis Ababa, President Akufo-Addo will host Member States of the Commission at a breakfast meeting on education and the AU financial institutions.

He will also provide updates on Ghana's role as the host of the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Accompanying the President are the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, Minister for Foreign Affairs Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, MP, and officials from the Presidency and Foreign Ministry.

President Akufo-Addo is expected to return to Ghana on Sunday, February 18, 2024. In his absence, Vice-President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will act as President, in accordance with Article 60(8) of the Constitution.
