Starting April, personnel of both the National Service Scheme and Youth in Afforestation will receive an “instant SMS alert” on their allowance.
The intervention comes in the wake of complaints by personnel of the two programmes over the “poor manner” the payment of their monthly allowance is communicated to them.
The platform designed by Ghanaian IT firm, Allawadrop GH will be free for subscribers from April to May 2019.
Personnel who would want to continue to enjoy the service after the trial would be required to sign up and pay some operational fee.
Allawadrop GH Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Akane Adams said the service will address one of the major complaints by personnel of the two programmes.

“When beneficiaries receive their monthly allowances onto their E-Zwich accounts or cards, they will receive an instant text message from Allawadrop GH,” he said.
He explained the SMS alert will create awareness about the payment of the monthly allowance.
“When that is done beneficiaries will now have pre-information with regards to their allowance before they go to the bank and this saves time,” he added.
“After the 90-day trial ends,” Mr Adams said, “the use of the platform would be based on voluntary subscription through its website allawadropgh.com.”
