The Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), the sole mandated professional regulator of Allied Health Professions in Ghana, has, effective 2nd February 2026, withdrawn accreditations of all Allied Health Programs of the Ghana Christian University College located at Amrahia, off the Dodowa road in Accra.

Per a letter dated 2nd February 2026 and addressed to the President of the Ghana Christian University College, in which the Director General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and their mentoring or affiliated university, the University of Development Studies, were copied.

The letter signed by the noble and highly respected registrar of the Council, Professor Shirazu Isshahaku, the astute Council after almost five (5) months of investigating the University College came to a grounded conclusion based on law and the powers vested in the council under the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act 2013, to legally withdrew the accreditation for all Allied Health Programs been offered by the Ghana Christian University College, namely:

1. Bachelor of Public Health (Health Promotion)
2. Bachelor of Public Health (Disease Control)
3. BSc Health Information and Records Management.

The letter from the Allied Health Professions Council highlighted serious legal irregularities such as Noncompliance with stipulated admissions criteria, improper placement of students and deviations from approved regulatory guidelines.

Listed above are some of the few from the many findings from their investigations, which led the AHPCto withdraww the accreditation to save and protect the public health of the Ghanaian population and health care delivering systems of Ghana.

The above sanctions from the AHPC stem from allegations brought against the University College by some students and citizens of Ghana, and upon the council’s preliminary investigations, a prima facie case was noted that led the council to quickly intervene to suspend all AHPC programs at the Ghana Christian University College with a letter dated 17th October 2025.

A search at the Adenta High Court in Accra also revealed that during that same period of their suspension, the highly respected Ghanaian law firm, Crown Legal Bureau located at Agborba Junction, North Legon, Accra through their lead senior lawyer, Justice Abdulai ESQ, was representing one of the female lecturers of the same University College who had taken legal action in Suit Number GR/AD/HC2/C13/08/26 against her employer to protect the Public interest of Ghanaians on the University Colleges continuous admitting and graduating of unqualified students into the health sector of Ghana making the safety of Ghanaians in jeopardy.

Through that case surfaced several official memos authored by the Vice President of the Ghana University College, seriously advising the President of the University College, Rev.Dr. James Yamoah, AGAINST the continuous act of the University College fielding and graduating many unqualified students into Ghana’s Health Sector and its fatal consequence,d but no action was taken despite the advice from the Vice President to prevent such a canker.
