The Accra Metropolitan Authority (AMA) will Monday embark on an exercise to demolish some structures built on waterways in parts of Accra.Some of the areas to be affected include the Chemu Lagoon area, Agege, Sukura, Mataheko and parts of the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.According to the AMA, the exercise is aimed at reducing perennial flooding in the city.The demolition exercise, which began last year, was suspended following agitation by affected property owners who claim they were not given prior notice.Public Relations Officer at the AMA, James Dorgbetor, tells Joy News that issue has since been resolved.According to him, the assembly has started serving traders and owners of structures in the affected areas notices to ensure the exercise is carried out smoothly.He however indicated that the assembly is bracing up for agitations by some of the structures to be affected.Source: Joy News/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
