A member of the communications team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has questioned the professional competence and independence of political science lecturer, Kwasi Amakye Boateng to demand of President Mills to resign from office, saying he is an NPP analyst.
According to Kwakye Ofosu, Kwasi Amakye Boqateng’s assertion that President Mills should resign as National Democratic Congress flagbearer is bogus and shows how partisan he is.
He was reacting to calls by the political science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology on the ruling NDC to change President Mills as its presidential candidate in order to save the party from a humiliating defeat in the 2012 elections.
According to him, President Mills has not shown that he wants Ghanaians to renew his mandate as a president looking critically at his achievements so far in government.
Kwasi Amakye Boateng was himself reacting to supposed poll results by UK-based specialist publishing company, Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) which projected President Mills as the more likely to win the 2012 elections in Ghana.
In its latest report on Ghana the UK-based publication is reported by the Daily Graphic to give President Mills the urge over opposition candidate Nana Akufo-Addo, claiming favourable economic indicators of high growth and relatively low inflation was certain to inure to the advantage and benefit of the ruling NDC.
Mr. Amakye Boateng however disagrees with the findings.
Speaking on Asempa Fm’sEkosii-Sen on Tuesday in reaction to Amakye’s statement, Felix Kwakye Ofosu noted that the assertion that Mills must resign by no other than a politically tainted analyst is baseless and hollow.
”I am grieved by Amakye’s statement. Who told him Mills is incompetent. What locus that he have to tell a political party to change its leader?”
He accused Mr. Amakye Boateng of engaging in petty partisan politics.
”Amakye Boateng is doing the bidden of NPP but disguising himself as a political analyst”.
“As a political analyst like Amakye, I expect him to be independent and very analytical but it is shocking to hear him talking that way. He is a full blooded NPP and lacks the ability to do proper independent analysis on any subject in this country and people must be bold to question his professional competence,” he stressed.
The convener for the Research and Advocacy Platform (RAP) denied claims by the political science lecturer that the Mills administration is presiding over a corrupt government, saying the government is clean.
“Amakye Boateng is always engaged in a double standard analysis. If an issue is about the NDC, it is bad but if it concerns the NPP it is good. You see because of his biased analysis, all his views on any subject in the country is bogus."
Felix Kwakye Ofosu vowed to expose politicians who call themselves analysts like Kwasi Amakye Boakye but who in his view turn up doing politics. ”We in the NDC will confront anybody who hide under the guise of analyst to do partisan politics. And Amakye Boateng is one of them."
