The sacked Executive Chairman of the National School Feeding Programme has sued four members of the CJA for defamation.
Dr. Kwame Amoako Tuffuor filed a writ at an Accra High Court on Wednesday against leading members of the Committee for Joint Action.
The defendants are Messrs Kwasi Pratt Jnr., Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ato Ahwoi and Madam Ama Benyiwa Doe.
Dr. Tuffuor was sacked by the President following calls by the CJA for his immediate dismissal.
It accused him of corruption, nepotism and mismanagement of the programme.
But Dr. Tuffuor is seeking damages arguing in his statement of claim that the defendants defamed him in their press statement a few weeks ago.
Relating to the sacking of Dr. Tuffuor, the Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini said it was welcome news.
He told Joy News that there was enough evidence suggesting that things were fundamentally wrong with the management of the programme.
Alhaji Inusah called for more investigations into the operations of the school feeding programme.
“We need a bipartisan investigative team to look into the
Programme and the findings should be made public to the people of Ghana”, he stated.
Meanwhile the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mrs Oboshie Sai-Cofie said the dismissal of Dr. Tuffuor was not influenced by the calls of the CJA.
She said efforts had been made by the government to address the problems identified by the pricewaterhousecoopers report.
