The Freight and Logistics Manager at the Ghana Shippers Council, Emmanuel Arku says the Maritime Authority is considering a legislation to end the arbitrary charges by ship owners and agents.
He said the legislation will regulate the shipping industry, set out laws and revoke the licenses of companies which may flout the laws.
Mr Arku was reacting to concerns by the freight forwarders that government should abolish container charges imposed by ship owners and agents.
The freight forwarders say the charges are arbitrary and make Ghana an expensive destination.
While agreeing with the submission, Mr Arku believes that both legal and advocacy alternative be employed to address the problem.
