The current craze of tweeting is so widespread in showbiz that most celebrities in Ghana are joining the bandwagon in tweeting to their fans and followers.
A look at the top ten celebrities in twitter shows a mix of footballers, actors and musicians.
So far ace Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan is ranked the Ghanaian celebrity with the highest number of followers on twitter with 56,057 followers.
Kevin Prince Boateng is second with 27,000 followers. Incidentally Asamoah Gyan and Kevin Prince Boateng happen to be the only footballers in the top ten list of Ghanaian celebrities on twitter.
The two are followed by Hiplife artiste Sarkodie Obidiponbidi who has 23,801 followers. Ghanaian actor Van Vicker is fourth with 16,330 followers whilst the Grandpapa of Hiplife music Reggie Rockstone has 15,378 following him at 5th position.
Actress Jackie Appiah is 6th with 8,088 followers with Yvonne Nelson following closely with 7,480 followers for the 7th position.
Songstress Efya has 7,010 followers at 8th position with Hiphop artiste DBlack with 7,000 followers occupying the 9th Position.
Joy and Hitz FM’s DJ Black is the only presenter among the pack and he occupies the 10th position with 6,636 followers.
Recently Britney Spears joined the tweeters with over 10 million followers – a status currently enjoyed by the likes of Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Rihanna and President Obama.
