The Unique Floral Gardens was the place to be last Saturday, when ASEMP FM held a special treat for mothers, particularly, mothers of some members of the current senior national soccer team, the Black Stars in the annual “Maame Ayekoo” event.
The mothers who made it to the lunch buffet included Madam Janet Offei (mother of Pertojet’s striker Eric Bekoe), Madam Elizabeth Coffie (mother of NAC Breda’s lead striker Mathew Amoah), Madam Comfort Amootey (mother of Black Star’s inspirational skipper and Bologna’s Steven Appiah) and Mrs. Rosina Vorsah (mother of TSG Hoffenheim defender Isaac Vorsah).
The event which was under the theme; ‘Celebrating our unique Single Mothers ‘, was the third in succession since ASEMPA FM instituted it three years ago. It has become a must-attend mothers’ day event.
The lunch buffet was to honour mothers and reward top five (5) mothers who won the ‘Maame Ayekoo’ promotion on Asempa 94.7 fm.
As part of the event, resource persons were invited to speak on selected issues pertaining to family life education. Other areas covered in the forum included managing middle age health crises.
Prominent personalities, especially women and mothers in high offices as well as those in successful businesses were also invited to interact with the mothers, to inspire them to adopt better family life styles.
As part of the programme, thanksgiving Church Service was held on Sunday morning in honour of mothers, at the Resurrection Power and Living Bread Ministries at Dansoman, in Accra.
Bernice Dzigbordi-Kermah who won the prize in the “Maame Ayekoo” Promotion took home as her prize, three sets of cooking utensils, three frying pans, a bag of rice and a Multi TV digibox and dish for her Mum.
Second placed Ernestina Naa Akweley also for her Mum three sets of silver cookware and two frying pans, half bag of rice and a Multi TV digibox and dish.
The second runner-up Edward Nortei-Anum won for her Mum three set of silver cookware and a frying pan, half bag of rice as well as a Multi TV digibox and dish.
The 3rd Maame Ayekoo Event was sponsored by Ghana Aluminium Company Limited, Unique Floral Limited, Mama Lit Resturant, Baileys Irish Cream From Guinness Ghana Brewery Limited, Ghana Made Company Limited, Coca Cola, Secure Contraceptive Pill From Exp Social Marketing, and MultiTV.
