The Ashanti Regional Police have withdrawn with immediate effect police escort for the founder of the Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre.Rev. Ebenezer Adaakwa Yiadom, preacher and owner of Kumasi-based Radio Mercury has for some time now been enjoying the luxury of police escort because he claimed his life was under threat by a rival pastor.A former Ashanti Regional Police Commander agreed to offer the pastor an escort after he reported that a pastor friend had issued threats on his live. But Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Patrick Timbilla, says Rev. Yiadom does not deserve a police escort.DCOP Timbilla told Joy News his intelligence after assuming his new position in the Ashanti Region has established that Rev. Yiadom does not deserve a police escort.“My general issue in Kumasi is to fight general crime, especially violent ones, and I need men on the ground to do that for everybody.” DCOP Timbilla said. The police boss said Rev Yiadom may only have to “tread cautiously” and call the police in the event of a difficulty.DCOP Timbilla also hinted that he is yet to be “convinced” that Rev. Yiadom indeed needs a police escort over what the police boss says are alleged “personality clash” between the preacher and his colleague.Source: Myjoyonline.com
