Ashesi University has won the Best Delegate Award at the Asia International Model United Nations (UN) Conference, hosted at Peking University, Beijing, in China.
The university also won other two outstanding awards for its performance in representing Africa's interest in two UN sub-committees.
This is contained in a statement issued in Accra on Friday by Ms. Salome Okoh, Assistant Dean of Students Affairs of Ashesi University.
It said that for the conference to stimulate proceedings of United Nations, provided opportunity for university students with interest in international relations around the world to discuss important issues from different perspectives.
The statement said that the conference helped to facilitate discussions on a wide-range of topics regarding politics, economics, society and culture as students had the opportunity to play the roles of ambassadors, diplomats and engaged in negotiations.
It said the conference offered a platform for the students to suggest solutions to global financial crisis and relief efforts to Haiti among other issues.
The statement said Ashesi University was involved in four different committees of the UN including the General Assembly, Group of 20.
