The Member of Parliament for Dorma West constituency has dispelled allegations circulating in the media that the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, and the Bono Region Minister, Evelyn Ama Kumi Richardson caused the defeat of some New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmakers in the region.
According to Ali Maiga Halidu, the accused Ministers were rather very instrumental during the electioneering period, disclosing that they provided all the essential resources needed to campaign and organize rallies in the Bono Region.
His comments follow allegations by the legislator for Sunyani East constituency, Kwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh who accused the two of selfish acts, which consequently affected the victory of NPP in the region.
Speaking on a Sunyani based radio station, Mr Maiga Halidu praised the two for their dedication to the party.
“Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh contributed a lot to my campaign and that of other colleagues in the Region. He gave out motorbikes and physical cash to a number of constituencies same as the Regional Minister".
“I cannot quantify the support I have received from these two [Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh and Evelyn Ama Kumi Richardson] and wish that we encourage them to continue to do more for us rather than condemning them and subjecting them to needless public attacks for they are the hope for the region,” he maintained.
He further challenged Kwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh to provide evidence that these two people gave money to the electorate to vote against the NPP candidates.
He admonished party supporters to desist from apportioning blame on people who sacrificed for the interest of the party in the just-ended polls.
According to him, this could disintegrate the party and may affect the party again in the next election.
