Entertainment personality, Jon Germain on Saturday released his much anticipated ‘This is who I am’ album at the Silverbird Lifestyle Bookshop. The launch came amidst doubts of his ability to sing since he has never officially sang or performed at any high profile show. Surprisingly at the launch, the man tagged as the ‘suite man’ for his love for fashionable suites deviated from that usual norm to a much more 'hip hop' dressing. Jon came into the venue looking very confident and excited, he took the press and music enthusiasts through the inspiration for the album and what the public should expect. Jon Germain who described himself as a born singer said he drew his inspiration from things around him and the women in his life. The 7-track album features J Town and Jayso. It has tracks like In my head (his first single), Can't explain, Quiver, among others. He said the timing for the release of the album couldn't have been better considering the fact that he had to wait for 15 years to finally get it ready. After waiting for that long, he said this was the perfect time to use the talent God gave him, and he thanked Kaywa and Jayso for pushing him to produce the album. Jon Germain in an interview with Myjoyonline.com after the launch said he does not see it as a risky move to venture into a much different genre of music, which is pop. “I got calls from musicians in Ghana who called me and they went like, thank you so much you are going to take Ghana there…I got calls from so many people who are appreciating [the album] already…some girls on University of Ghana campus told Obuor to tell me that ‘In My Head’ is the best song ever made in Ghana. That alone, is ok to me,” he said. He said Ghanaian music can only go international if we take our time and go the extra mile to do a ‘wicked’ song by taking time to compose and sing. Jon advised that if we managed to go back and adopt from music legends like Osibisa, C.K. Mann and Pat Thomas, we might make a head way. Jon Germain is already set to release his second album, ‘Panic Attack’, in a year's time. He wanted to be known and remembered as 'Jon, the rock singer'. Musician, Kwabena Kwabena, and personalities, Kwame Fakyi, DJ Mensah, Andy Dosty and Abraham Ohene Djan were some of the people who graced the occasion.
