National Democratic Congress Leader and Presidential Candidate, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, will be joining the Committee for Joint Action, (CJA), Concerned Ghanaians and others who will be protesting what they say is government’s non-transparent sale of 70% sale of Ghana Telecom (GT) to Vodafone.
The protest is scheduled for the forecourt of Parliament House on Tuesday, August 12.
A statement by Mr. Koku Anyidoho, Head of Communications at the Office of Prof. Mills said the “NDC Leader is therefore urging all NDC members as well as well-meaning Ghanaians to be part of the protest to implore our lawmakers, who are the representatives of the people, not to support the NPP government in its desperate bid to sell-off GT.
“Professor Atta Mills wishes to put it on record that if the NPP muscles its way through and sells-off GT under terms that don’t sit well with the norms of openness and transparency, as President, he shall ensure that the sale is reversed. And persons found culpable of shortchanging Ghanaians, shall face the full rigours of the law”, the statement said.
