A management expert, Kofi Bentil, has condemned the poor accounting systems which lead to the investment spending of more than double the amount budgeted for Ghana’s 50th Independence Anniversary.
An audit report on the Ghana @50 Secretariat submitted to Parliament on Thursday revealed a shocking expenditure of GH¢71.7million, far in excess of the GH¢20 million dollars originally allocated to the secretariat.
Unused stock of souvenirs and indebtedness to the secretariat from the sale of jubilee cloths and uncompleted jubilee toilets all added up to the unaccounted losses.
Management expert Kofi Benti says this could have been avoided if the right procedures were followed.
Stay tuned for details.
