A superb individual goal by Gladson Awako, ensured Berekum Chelsea beat Porcupine Warriors Kumasi Asante Kotoko 2-1 to win this year’s Presidential Cup.
The goal capped a spirited second half performance by the Berekum side who were down in a first half to a Kofi Nti Boakye goal.
The game was fluid and fast paced with some great individual display from Samuel Nii Adjei of Kotoko and Gladson Awako of Chelsea.
Edward Kpodo secured a crucial equalizer for Chelsea from a poorly defended corner kick.
Just when the game appeared to be slipping into penalty kick, Awako dummied his marker and struck a low shot which beat a slow-to-react Soulama in post for Kotoko.
Kotoko twice hit the wood work; first from a superb free kick by Nii Adjei and a glancing header by Nti Boakye but were unlucky on both occassions.
The victory is the second in succession for Chelsea against Kotoko in the Presidential Cup, even though this was without controversy.
Last year, Chelsea beat Kotoko via penalty kick to win the cup but critics blamed the referee for some questionable decisions taken.
