Black Stars defender Awal Mohammed sustained a thigh injury on Wednesday night just 72 minutes when his club side Maritzburg United played 1-1 with Kaizer Chiefs at the Peter Mokaba Stadium .
The 25-year-old is set for medical examinations to determine the severity of his injury by the close of Thursday.
Sixteen minutes into the second half it was Sheppard who again forced a save out of Khune, but Chiefs would soon react to this United pressure and were almost rewarded 20 minutes into the second half.
Morgan Gould's header sailed just wide. Shortly after a goalkeeping blunder by Walters allowed Chiefs back into this encounter. Mathoho, who managed to connect to a cross by Tshabalala looped the ball over the United keeper, who was off his line.
Awal Mohammed's substitution broke the defence set up of United which saw Chiefs equalize easy.
The goal seemed to rejuvenate Chiefs for a brief spell, but the league leaders couldn't penetrate the United defence. The visitors were disappointed by the result, but Chiefs will be most relieved.
Chiefs still lead the PSL league with 51-points whiles Maritzburg United lie sixth with 32 points
