The football pitch of the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi is set to undergo intensive renovation before the start of the second half of the season.
This will be the first major rehabilitation of the pitch since it was reconstructed for the Ghana2008 Africa Cup of Nations.
The exercise, which is expected to last up to the last week of February, is aimed at improving the standards of the pitch for quality delivery.
“The Kumasi pitch looks tired so we are closing it for a month to do several activities to ensure the pitch is in good condition”, said Frank Boahene, Chief Executive of Green Grass Technology, (GGT) sports pitch experts working on the project
“It reaches a point where the pitch needs to be rested and this is a fantastic opportunity to rest the pitch and do some additional works to reinstall it”
The venue will host big games in the premier league as well as the Black Stars World Cup qualifier against Sudan in March.
