Health Minister, Alban Bagbin is calling for a ceasefire between management and doctors of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital over all their differences.
He says staff at the hospital should move away from what he describes as
fire-fighting approach to seeking redress to building blocks to bring progress.
Mr. Bagbin paid an unannounced visit to the hospital on Friday, the second in two months since assuming office as health minister following calls by junior doctors for dissolution of the board for non performance.
He says government is on top of issues at the hospital, and will take definitive decisions to address them.
Mr. Bagbin however indicated there will be no rush in making pronouncements until concerns raised by the junior doctors are properly investigated.
Meanwhile, it has now emerged that the man at the centre of a feud between management and a surgeon at the Komfo Anokye Hospital has not been sacked, after all.
Consultant trainer, Professor Robert Quansah’s services were said to have been revoked three years ago.
Surgeons want him recalled to facilitate accreditation of the hospital for trauma and orthopedic training.
However, at a meeting between Health Minister, Alban Bagbin, and authorities it was established that the man had not been sacked.
According to Mr. Bagbin, Prof Quansah has not been relieved of his post since his appointment in 2009.
