Bank customers have become the latest targets of day light robbery in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi, leaving sections of the banking public very worried.
The Central Business district of Adum, a suburb in Kumasi has become unsafe for business transactions as bank customers have become the robbery targets of unscrupulous persons riding motor bikes.
An Accounts Officer with the Approacher’s Series in Kumasi has been the latest victim.
Narrating his ordeal to Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor, the Accounts officer said he was returning from the Ghana Commercial Bank after depositing GHc 11,000 out of the GHc 23,000 he had earlier cashed from the Unibank.
That was when the remaining GHc 12, 000 was whisked away by the robbers on motorbike in the full glare of the Police.
According to eye witnesses, the robbers usually park close to the banks, waiting for unsuspecting banking customers.
Once the money is snatched, the riders speed off, making it difficult for any means of retrieval.
Even though the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Augustine Genning says investigations will be launched, the public has been cautioned to be on the alert.
