Mr Frank Kwame Busumtwi, Birim South District Chief Executive, has appealed to Ghanaians not to allow their cultural differences to bring disunity in the nation. "Let our culture promote peace, unity and tranquillity that will gear us towards development of our society and the nation as a whole", he said in remarks to open the 10th Eastern Regional Basic Schools Festival of Arts at Akyem Oda . The weeklong festival was on the theme: "Cultural, A Tool for Peaceful Co-existence". Mr Busumtwi observed that foreign culture was currently and gradually taking away the country’s rich heritage, especially among the youth. "Even in the world of music we are interested in foreign ones than our rich music that contains food for thoughts, which add more colour to our way of life", he said. Mrs Akosua Adu, Eastern Regional Director of Education, said culture was not just drumming and dancing, but "a whole life". She called for peaceful co-existence of all Ghanaians, adding, "no matter where you come from we are all one people". Source: GNA
