Teenage striker, Sadick Adams, has incurred the wrath of the world's football governing body, FIFA, for breach of contract with Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel.
Adams recently signed a pre-contract spanning two-a-and-half years with Spanish side, Athletico Madrid. The deal takes effect from January 1 next year when the player turns 18.
But FIFA in a letter to the Ghana Football Association has revoked the deal on the grounds that the player had breached an earlier deal he signed with Sahel.
According to documents made available by the Tunisian Football Association on behalf of Etoile to FIFA, the player signed a contract with Etoile which took effect from July 14, 2007, and was expected to expire in July 2010.
However, the player has since the World Cup not reported to Etoile, thus compelling FIFA to react and warning the player to return to Tunisia.
But the managers of the player are contesting the decision of FIFA and told the Graphic Sports that they had sought a legal representation to defend the player.
According to Jones Alhassan-Abu, the player's agent in Ghana, the decision by FIFA defies the principles of natural justice because it took the decision without hearing the side of the player.
"It is clear that FIFA has not been properly appraised of the facts on the ground that is why it should have sought the player's side of the story," Alhassan-Abu stated.
He argued that Etoile, in signing the deal with the player, breached article 19 of FIFA's own regulations which insists on the consent of either the ward or parents of the player to make a contract valid.
