Ghana international based in South Africa, Rashid Sumaila has hailed the defensive set up of the team for their resilience after they soldiered on to the semi-finals of the CHAN with a 1-0 win over DR Congo on Sunday.
Determination and aggression from the entire team ensured that the Stars edged out the maiden winners of the tournament to set up a last-four clash with rivals, Nigeria on Wednesday but I think our defenders were resolute.
And the manner of their commitment to stick to instructions is one that has left the Ghana coach very impressed as we did in the All Africa Games in Maputo in 2011.
"This was the way we started our project in the Mozambique in the All Africa Games in Maputo in 2011 under Coach Kwesi Appiah and Maxwell Konadu. I know many people had little confidence in this team by gradually they have made a final four and definitely will surely beat Nigeria to reach the grand finale, “he told JOY Sports.
Kwabena Adusei scored a 67th minute penalty to secure Ghana a place in the semi-final as they make their third-straight appearance at the tournament.
Rashid Sumaila who has recovered fully will be in action over the weekend
