Ghana Football Association Vice President Fred Pappoe says the whole nation must share in the exciting rise of the senior national football team, the Black Stars.
He told Joy News the FA cannot singularly claim credit for the meteoric rise of the team and if there were any spoils to share in the success of the team, it should be shared by all for the diverse and effective roles the entire society has played to see the team to this end.
Ghana is now Africa’s second best soccer nation behind Cameroon, according to FIFA’s latest rankings released on Wednesday.
Overall, Ghana is 19th in the world, moving three places up and closely followed by the Ivory Coast at 20th.
Only Mali, 35th and Nigeria, 36th made it in the first 40 clubs as African Champions Egypt finished 41st.
Argentina is now the world’s number one nation, dethroning World Champion, Italy to second position and further sinking Brazil to third spot.
France, Germany, England, Netherlands, Portugal, Czech Republic and Spain complete the first ten placings in the world.
