The Bono East Region has recorded a total of 77 new Covid-19 cases within two weeks.
The region has since the outbreak of the pandemic recorded a cumulative number of 1,533 cases with a case fatality of 1.74%, a figure above the national average of 0.6%.
Regional Health Director Dr. Fred Adomako Boateng, who described the situation as worrying, said, "in terms of where the cases are coming from, we have 31 of them coming from Pru East, 16 from Nkoranza South, 10 from Kintampo North and 20 of them coming from the Techiman Municipality".
He called for strict adherence to safety protocols as a means of curbing the spread of the coronavirus disease.
"One thing that we have recognized is that, people are kind of done with the personal hygiene. People don't really use the alcohol sanitizers anymore but you can infect yourself if you don't really practice good personal hygiene."
Over 500 health workers in the Region have recorded positive cases since the outbreak of the pandemic constituting 34% of the region's cumulative cases.
