The New Patriotic Party winning the 2016 general elections would be the heart desire of many a Ghanaian, since Ghana under President John Mahama is going to hell packed in a hand basket. As a matter of fact, Ghanaians are being hanged, drawn and quartered. However, hardships alone, over the years, have played little role in people deciding to vote for a political party during elections. This unpalatable history presented a herculean task to the leadership of the NPP when they were going into the Amanfi West by-election. Sheer hardwork, commitment and dedication from the likes of John Boadu, Sammy Awuku and all the energetic young men and women who worked tirelessly on the grounds, ensured the enviable feat that was achieved eventually. The NPP might not have won the seat, the gap, in terms of percentages was hugely contracted, dousing the celebration of the NDC in the process.
To Uncle JB and his crew, I say, well done! You have done what Napoleon struggled to do!
Whilst I congratulate you on the success chalked in Amanfi West, sight must not be lost of the fact that the voters register is compromised, and needs to be overhauled. I therefore urge you not to relent in your efforts to get the Electoral Commission to listen to the voice of reason. Only a credible voter’s register will ensure a free, fair, transparent and violence free polls in 2016. The turn-ups at Talensi and Amanfi West by-elections speak volumes of how incredible the register is, and must be scrapped for a newer one to be produced.
To the teaming supporters of the New Patriotic Party, the halcyon days are over! For us to win the next elections, the party must be heavily resourced. It is incumbent on all party faithfuls to contribute their quota in terms of resources, especially, funds for its numerous activities.
In effect, whilst I commend our party hierarchy for improving our fortunes in terms of percentages at the just ended Amanfi West by-election, they should work tirelessly to get the voters register replaced.
Party faithfuls also have roles to play, and these must be played effectively.
Thank you.
Signed...
