Former President of Brazil Lula Da Silva has commended Ghana’s democratic credentials and expressed his country’s readiness to keep working with Ghana.The former Brazilian President is in the country to deliver a lecture as part of SIC’s 50th anniversary celebrations.Lula Da Silva told President John Mahama during a visit to the Flagstaff House on Friday that the relationship between the two countries has strengthened further because of geo-political reasons.“I believe in strategic relationship among the countries in the South. I believe the democratic process has been consolidated in Africa and we all learning the lesson that it is through peace and democracy that our country will grow,” Silva said through his interpreter.President Mahama applauded the former President for his contribution to fixing the Brazilian economy and expressed Ghana’s commitment to partner Brazil for mutual benefit.“You came to the Brazilian presidency at a time when Brazil faced serious financial crisis and as a socialist people wondered if you were going to be able to fix it.“But your leadership in Brazil has made Brazil emerge as one of the country’s that has brought its people fastest out of poverty,” President Mahama said.He added the story of Da Silva has been a major inspiration for many African presidents.President Mahama said Ghana will continue to deepen its bilateral relationship with Brazil.
