Broadway theatres are to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with a performance featuring stars including Matthew Broderick and Brooke Shields.
They will sing the anthem New York, New York at the heart of the city's theatre district on Friday.
Tony Award winners Bebe Neuwirth, Sutton Foster, Joel Grey and Harvey Fierstein will also take part.
The actors will return to the location where they performed the same song at an event just weeks after the attacks.
Cast members from current Broadway shows will join them for the anniversary event.
Daniel Rodriguez, the former New York police officer who became a full-time singer after gaining recognition for his operatic rendition of God Bless America following 11 September 2001, will also appear.
Paul Libin, chairman of The Broadway League, which represents theatre owners and producers, said he hoped it would be "a tribute to the arts, life, and New York".
"Ten years ago Broadway united with the city to communicate that the shows must go on, just as life must," he said. "And now Broadway is banding together again to inspire participation in charitable projects in honour of those lost."
The event will be part of the I Will campaign, which seeks to encourage people to perform good deeds, support charitable causes and volunteer.
