The Police in the Brong Ahafo Region is warning the general public attending the NDC Congress in Sunyani on Saturday to maintain peace before, during and after the congress to avoid any confrontation.
Over 1,000 armed security personnel from across the country have been deployed to maintain peace and order in the regional capital and at the congress amidst assurances from party officials that the congress would be a peaceful one.
Nhyira FM's Ohemeng Tawiah reports that because the police are bent on making sure that the Congress passes without any problems, arrangements have been made to ensure that delegates and the media are safe.
Chief Inspector Tawiah of the Sunyani Police Command says unaccredited persons must stay away, assuring also that the police will scan everyone in order to identify people who may wield weapons to cause havoc on the Congress grounds.
