A chief has appealed to his colleague chiefs and kingmakers to bury their differences and come together as one people to help in the development of the country.
Nana Kwabena Angu II, the Awudua and Divisional Chief of Apinto Traditional Area said that chieftaincy disputes were undermining the development of the country since monies that are meant for projects are spent on security personnel to patrol conflict areas.
Nana Angu said a few years ago when the area was embroiled in litigation, development in the traditional area stopped, especially at Awudua, the seat of the Apinto Divisional Area.
He said public places of convenience have been destroyed and the 11-kilometre road linking Awudua to the main Tarkwa/Bogoso road had virtually become impassable.
Meanwhile, huge sums of money were paid to lawyers whose services were engaged in the dispute.
Nana Angu appealed to chiefs in the area to let "sleeping dogs lie" to pave way for development.
"Let the dawn of peace and hope embrace everybody within the traditional area in order to move the area forward," he said.
