Shafiu Mumuni hit an eight-minute hat-trick on Saturday as AshantiGold strolled into the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary second round by beating Akonangui FC 3-0 in Obuasi.
Mumuni scored in the first, sixth and eighth minutes as the Miners won the tie 4-1 on aggregate after the first leg ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
He opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the first minute. The 24-year-old then took advantage of a defensive mishap to add the second five minutes later.
Mumuni completed his hat-trick in the 8th minute with a fine finish from close range.
The Equatoguinean side had a couple of decent opportunities but failed to take them.
The Miners will face last season’s finalist RS Berkane of Morocco in the next round.
