The Marketing Manager for Vivo Energy Ghana, Jerry Buachie-Danquah wants the government to focus on well-engineered roads to reduce accidents and boost transport services.
Mr Buachie-Danquah admits that although some of the causes of fatal accidents on Ghana’s roads can be attributed to negligence, bad roads too have been a contributing factor.
“If you look at the rate of accidents on our roads currently, apart from driver-error and a couple of issues, you cannot rule out the fact that some of our roads are not good.
“So I think the government has to do its best to ensure that our roads are motorable,” he said.

He made the appeal on Tuesday during the official launch of a premium service that has been rolled out in partnership with VIP Jeoun Transport Ltd at the Airport Shell filling station in Accra.

The first-of-its-kind transport premium services will be available at the new Airport terminal of the VIP Jeoun and offer customers on-board wifi, executive passenger waiting area, free luggage space (up to 30 Kg) and a night police escort all at GHȻ65.
The ‘Premium Centre’ service also includes refreshments and is aimed at providing passengers, especially those disembarking at the Kotoka International Airport to other locations, a comfortable traveling experience.
The Vivo Marketing Manager explains that the aim of the VIP-Vivo partnership forms part of Vivo’s commitment to support government’s efforts to grow the transport business and the private sector in Ghana.
He said similar concepts would be rolled out in other parts of the country.
